Review: Rokus are arguably the most affordable and easy to use streaming devices on the market. If you donât have a Roku TV or any kind of smart TV, or want to use this with a projector or something else, this is a no brainer investment.Iâve purchased many of the older Express 1080p units and this 4K+ unit is basically the same with some added perks. The remote included with this unit is a voice remote and allows power control of the TV/display device all within the same remote. The old basic 1080p units did not come with this so itâs a great upgrade. If you use an external audio amplifier that integrates to your home theater via HDMI, CEC control can be used to allow the volume control to control that as well.All necessary cables and batteries for the remote were included. Also includes VHB tape (command strip) to adhere the Roku to your TV if you choose to do so.My application for this was a very early gen smart TV from 2013. Although itâs only 1080p it has a higher refresh rate than most TVs at that time, the picture quality is amazing, and it still works great so I saw no sense in replacing it.My only complaints are with the Roku design and platform, not this unit in particular:- Specific to the remote, there are a number of channel based services that would benefit from a number pad for direct dialing channel numbers. Roku does not support this, so OEM and aftermarket remotes will never be able to utilize this.- Iâm a huge fan of the purple arrow buttons. Unfortunately they are rubber, not plastic. Easier on the fingers however they get gooey and degrade over time. Iâve had to replace a handful of Roku remotes over the years because of this- Dedicated streaming service buttons should be programmable. If I donât subscribe to a service, I donât want it as a remote hotkey. Interestingly enough, different remotes from different vendors all provide different variations of streaming buttons. Thereâs no consistency. At that rate, just get rid of them.Despite the small issues that bother me I still would not steer away from Roku as a platform. It has a lot to offer and an excellent price.

Review: A friend told me she bought one to use and not have to pay a monthly fee. There ARE extra channels you can subscribe to but even those are very reasonable.A few years ago I stayed at an air BnB and they had Roku, I watched it but really didn’t know what it was about or the cost. It was perfect for the place I stayed and I was amazed at the channels available. It only needs internet access and the owner had control, had it in guest mode and worked fine.I bought two, one for the TV in the guest bedroom where my son and daughter in law stays when they come to visit.. she has a Netflix account and likes to watch their usual shows before going to sleep… and I got one for the other bedroom my grandchildren stay in when they are here. I have it set to just kids shows and they can still attach gaming devices and we can cast to the TV. I love having options that meet different needs without costing a fortune.I was very impressed with how easy it was to set up and that I can use one remote, and it has voice search! Awesome tech, even for us older folks. My husband loves the old westerns and now he can go sit in the guest bedroom if he wants and watch it with the TV turned up so he can hear it.

Review: The only reason i rated the “Voice Recognition” as 4 stars is that I rarely use it. Otherwise, we use Roku almost every day. Today virtually all new TVs are smart TVs and therefore come with the ROKU app on them. What people sometimes get confused with, however is that even if the TV comes with the ROKU app you must purchase one of their hand-held devices and follow the instructions to activate it’s use, which is simple to do. Once set up you will be surprosed at how many different TV apps you can access. Some may have a cost which can be avoided by not “adding” it to you list. There are hundreds of free apps that you can add by searching and following the simple prompts which are in many different categories. I have added a couple of hundred which show up every time I open it up. One of my most favorite apps is You Tube. Just You tube, not You Tube TV. You can search on You Tube to see if what you want is there and if it is just open it up and play it. They contain very good video apps on current events, from the status of the Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore, the status of event in the Ukraine, the status of the Israeli / Palestine War to the recent road race at Monte Carlo where you will also see the most unbelievable Mega Yachts in the world, if that is your like, as well as the worlds best sports cars, like the Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Bugatti’s. Review: I love this thing! Our smart TV was having trouble connecting to the wifi and would stop mid show sometimes, so we got this. Super easy to set up and works well! I love that you can get the Roku remote app and control the tv from your phone, it makes logging in to all the apps super easy because you can just type the email and password on your phone keyboard through the app. I like that itâs small and sleek and comes with a command type strip if you want to mount it to the wall.

Review: This roku was super easy to setup and get connected to our various streaming services. I have been doing a budget-upgrade our front room from “play room” to “teen hangout room”, and have a projector tv on a big wall for them to watch movies & play video games. And the roku was a cheap and easy solution for streaming, and connects to the projector with the included HDMI cord. I love that it uses QR codes to connect to netflix etc. We were up and running in about 15 minutes!

Review: This was ordered in the UK on the UK Amazon site but the item shipped is a USA version with a USA mains plug adapter. Luckily, I had a suitable UK plugged adapter and the actual Roku box sets up OK for UK streaming. I know this can also be used with the TV USB power but this is not ideal. The item photo did show a USA two pin adapter but it is not clear whether this is a generic photo or the actual item. Mains power plug configuration should really be stated in the specification. Other than this it is performing as expected.
