A recent large-scale study, compiled from data on 11,000 people in 15 countries, found that this vitamin supplements protect people from colds, fevers and acute respiratory infections. Especially for those who were deficient in this vitamin, this supplement reduced the chance of chest infection from 60 percent to 30 percent. Another study conducted in 2019 on 21,000 patients showed that those with low levels of D-vitamin in their blood had an 84 percent higher chance of developing pneumonia from a cold or fever. These tests clearly show that D-vitamin protects an adult from acute respiratory infections. Vitamin D deficiency is found in the body of older people in all countries of the world.
