Review: I Bought this drone and have been thoroughly enjoying it since. I bought the drone not having flown one ever before but it’s easy to learn on, has high and low speeds and I honestly still prefer low for another flying.The drone arrived quickly and is packaged in it’s case, which is great and has a really high quality zipper and pretty tough foam. Everything you get is inside with separate compartments for the drone, both batteries, and the controller. Also included in the top half in a zippered mesh enclosure are two USB charging cables for the batteries, a set of propellers, a small screwdriver and the instructions. You’ll need to provide your own AAA batteries for the remote, 3 of them, but otherwise the drone and all of it’s accessories and more can be stored in a nice case.The camera is about what you’d expect in this price range, streams to your phone when you download the app and connect to the drones Wifi, the feed is choppy at times, but it does make some pretty cool movies for viewing on a cell phone, images are higher quality and I believe 1080p. Camera has a 90° vertical pivot that works smoothly and also allows for cool shots.Actual flying is a ton of fun, the drone is fairly smooth with very little to no lag time between actions on the remote control and the drone, despite being light it does fight wind pretty well, but being as light as it is expect to work to keep it semi stable in any breeze. Drone has Headless mode, which I haven’t used much, high speed rotate, which I’ve never used on purpose, circle, which works well from my limited use, and auto takeoff and landing which works ok but you may not use it rather quickly. I’ve had the drone up about 80′ but always fought wind and living in the woods small mistakes mean crashes into trees. I have personally crashed this drone many, many times, typically catching a branch or leaves from a few feet off the ground, durability is amazing as the drone has largely survived without damage. I have had two large crashes, the first I was roughly 60′ up and the winds picked up and I lost sight of the drone, not wanting it to get lost in trees and my neighbors field I hit the emergency shut down, the drone hit a tree branch roughly 40-50′ up and then dropped straight down onto compacted gravel. This crash is the only damage visible as it came straight down on one of the propeller arms, crushing the plastic guard and causing the propeller adapter piece to fall out. However, once I picked it up and pushed the propeller back in place, I was able to continue flying with no major issues. Later, I was pushing the battery to it’s limit about 60′ up and it began auto-landing, a feature of this drone, unfortunately it was near a branch in a tall tree and crashed upside down on a branch. A few days later it fell out of the tree in the wind and caught in a bush 5′ off the ground, unharmed..Overall I’m super happy with the purchase and my only problem is now that I’m sufficient as a pilot I’ve crashed enough that I damaged the one gearbox and I’m not sure how long it has left. That damage is from me however and if you don’t fly as recklessly as I did while learning I think you’ll be impressed by the durability, ease of use, and fun offered by this little drone especially for the price

Review: Drone advertisement, box, and instructions list 14+ age range and I can understand why. Purchased for my just turned nine-year old and it is going to take some work for him to get comfortable. Drone is very responsive and not as loud as I expected it to be. Do not use this inside and if you can, use it over grass/turf as the plastic body will not take much abuse.Also, without front/rear lights (other than the red power button light on the bottom rear), it can be difficult to determine the ‘head’ from a distance – we have not tried the ‘headless mode’ yet which may partially address this. There are after-market stick-on drone lights that we will most likely take a crack at.Only downside so far is that I thought it came with two batteries, but I was looking at the wrong product. Additional batteries are not cheap (over $30) so just keep that in mind if you want longer run times while out having fun with it.

Title: Great starter drone
Review: I’ve had this drone for a couple of months and I’d say it’s a really good drone for the price. The features that it has on the controller can also be used on the app (Holy Stone-FPV). You can choose between a fast speed or a low speed on the controller which I think is great. The drone came in a nice case with a battery, charger, extra propellers, and a manual to explain the features that it has; buttons on the controller, etc. One thing that my drone did was that it drifted to the left but managed to fix it by looking at the trimmer instructions on the manual. Overall, this drone is a really great drone for beginners or people that would use it for fun.

Title: Update to my original review – not any better
Review: Well, it took a while to actually receive the new drone but the Holystone customer service was great and they did replace the 1st drone that flew off by itself with another of the same model. By the time I got it carried down here to central America where I live, near the end of October we were in heavy rainy season so it took several days to get a break in the weather to allow me to try it out. Throughout this time a woman named Ada from Holystone was in touch with me frequently. As soon as I tried to fly the drone it was obvious that there were problems with this new unit also. Although I did not lose it, that is due to the fact that the kill switch worked well enough to stop the drone before it escaped. As far as I can tell, this unit will not hover nor will it respond to the ‘trimmer’ controls. That means that I can send it up in the air but I must constantly be controlling it with the right/left and forward/back buttons. This of course makes it impossible to use for anything because the drone won’t stand still for pictures, video, or even sightseeing. As I was explaining the problems that I encountered with the drone to “Ada” it apparently became evident to her that this item also was defective. She has since disappeared from my emails nor can I find any record of our communication via Amazon. So my review is that this drone was a waste of time and money. By all, rights my purchase costs should be refunded in full. I seriously doubt that will happen…I practiced close in for quite a while with only 1 small crash. Decided to go up and check the camera. As soon as it got some 8 to 10 feet up it just took off straight away from me. The only control that I had was elevation and side to side. Would not hover or return, it just kept going away until I lost it. Could be anywhere now. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t my fault as I had got the hang of the controls before letting it out of arms reach. Took right off and I couldn’t stop it at all. No wind, rain or even bright sun.Update: Holystone has offered another drone to replace the one that flew away. Should be to my Seattle address in a week although I won’t get it here in Costa Rica until a friend comes down in November. If the replacement is what it’s supposed to be I will update this review and the star rating

Review: Great little drone – should have bought the HS440S but not sure what to buy for my first drone. Had problem with it drifting on lift off – couldn’t get it to just hover. Also wanted to know what would happen if it happen to fly out of range. So I contacted Holystone and received an answer 2 day later (was over a weekend). Answer was quick and to the point.The drift problem took a while to solve. According to the instructions, hold down the Trimmer button until a beep and then move the right joystick in opposite direction to the drift. Took a while to figure out that you can’t leave the joystick to the side but need to move it back and forth from the center position. Each time you do this a beep occurs indicating that a position has been locked in so to speak.Anyway – to adjust drift follow the instructions but move the joystick from the center and back several times to stabilise the drone.Once that was done, I had a play – great for height and remained stable.Already considering buying another with GPSPurchased a second batteryTakes great pictures.Love it
